A Plague Tale: Innocence Story Trailer – Run For Cover

A Plague Tale: Innocence has been on my radar ever since I saw it from the early trailers.  I’ve been following Focus Home Interactive for many years since they published those Sherlock Holmes games I enjoy.  They always seem to be publishing a game that has interesting twist or perspective.   Have a look at A Plague Tale: Innocence Story Trailer.

Plague Tale: Innocence is the brand new own-IP title from Asobo Studio, bringing their veterancy in game development to a moving story of adventure and bonding through the darkest hours of history. In today’s Story Trailer, see just a glimpse of the heartbreaking tale of young Amicia and her brother Hugo, on the run from the Black Death, a plague of rats, the Inquisition, and worse besides.

Voice acting is a bit iffy, but the character models look really good, right?  So then you check who are the developers of the game: Asobo Studio.  A french group primary involved in video game adaptations of PIXAR games.  Looking at the list of games they’ve worked on, there’s nothing there that really stands out.  A lot of them are remasters or co-developed games.  I guess it’s good we can go into this one with no expectations.

The gameplay looks to be mostly stealth, but I did see what looks like a boss encounter with some giant armored knight.  How Amicia — the main protagonist — will deal with him is yet to be seen.  The boy accompanying Amicia is her little brother Hugo, who seems to be — or will be inflicted with some strain or the plague.  The two are part of the De Rune family; probably part of high society as they live in a castle with sheltered lives.  Their story takes place in the Kingdom of France during the Middle Ages (Hundred Years’ War).  It’ll be interesting to see what kind of story Asobo Studio can create surrounding the time of the Black Death.
