Red Dead Redemption 2 Rock Carvings  – Purpose?

They are part of the requirement to get 100% completion.  Besides that, finding each one will reward you with +5 points to Dead Eye.  You will also get rewards from Sinclair after mailing a certain number of them.  The main reward is after you have found all 10, and get an invitation to meet with Sinclair once again.  You can find and old brass compass on his dining table, which is used to craft the Ravenclaw talisman.  This slows weapon degradation by 20%.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Rock Carvings – Where?

There are no clues or map to lead you to find all 10.  You are just supposed to examine your surroundings and notice them.  They are numbered as ‘Coordinates’, from 1 through 10, and so you can check which ones you’ve already inspected by looking at them in your Satchel.  The whole process of finding them should take around 20 minutes.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Rock Carvings – Video Guidance

This video guide will help you find all 10 Rock Carvings Locations.  They are organized in an order that will minimize backtracking all across the map.  The starting locations are usually off some main road.  Pay special attention to which way the character icon is facing to help you locate these spots.  You’ll have to stand in a certain spot before the prompt to inspect the rock carving shows up.

In the end, if you examine the giant mural drawing in the Sinclair house, you will see clues that Francis could perhaps be some sort of time traveler.  The distinct birthmark over his eye identifies him in all of the drawings.
