Hot of the press of The Game Awards 2019, Sony Playstation has just released a new trailer for Ghost of Tsushima —Â revealing The Ghost.
There’s also an estimated release window announced: Summer 2020.
The trailer opens up with some cinematic scenes that depict The Ghost’s backstory. He was renowned to have died in war taking place beachside. But his random appearances says otherwise.
Stories of his skirmishes have traveled far giving him the name of The Ghost.  It seems The Ghost is after someone — perhaps for revenge.
There are some short scenes of some gameplay. Horseback riding seems to be the main method of travel, and looks very much like Shadow of the Colossus. The difference being lots of wildlife about.
You’re able to travel through many varieties of environments and beautiful landscapes. Lots of epic shots consisting of a one v. one duel, multiple opponents, flying arrows, etc.
This is one of my more anticipated releases in a very packed 2020.
It’s a new IP so I think it has a perfect release time in the Summer — during the usual summer gaming drought — where it can get all the focus. This will allow it to build itself as a possible franchise.
Some backstory of the game: Tsushima is the island where this Mongol Invasion takes place. The year is 1274. The main character is Jin Sakai and is one of the last surviving samurai. He undertakes a solitary mission to push back against the invaders, by moving past old traditions and more toward unconventional methods.
Ghost of Tsushima is in the action-adventure/stealth genrre, and is being developed by Sucker Punch Productions. Sucker Punch is known for their Sly Cooper and Infamous games.
Their latest game was Infamous Second Son, which was released five years ago back in 2014.
